Join us in the Lawn Chair Philosophy Foundation’s Continental Chop Shop Course Series, where we’ll practice our rudiments and acquaint ourselves with the foundational themes and terminology around which the tradition revolves.

VOL. 9: THE LIFEWORLD

During this session, we take a close look at the notion of “The Lifeworld” from various perspectives within the Continental tradition. We’ll begin with Husserl, then turn to Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty, Sartre, and Franz Fanon.

We’ll begin with Husserl, then turn to Heidegger, Sartre, Beauvoir, Merleau-Ponty, Ricoeur, and Fanon. Husserl: Presented by Keli “Animal” Birchfield, Philosopher in Chief of the LCP Foundation. Heidegger and Fanon: Presented by Angela Heredia of Central European University Merleau-Ponty: Presented by Spore, Visiting Facilitator. Sartre, Beauvoir, and Ricoeur: Presented by Donovan Irven of Filo Sofi Arts and Analecta Hermeneutica.

VOL. 5: BEING, A REPRISE

Last session, we discussed the notion of Being from the perspectives of Husserl, Heidegger, Sartre, and Fanon. And we agreed that just one session on the notion of Being would not suffice. We needed to include more voices over this matter. We reached out to our community to get a sense for which voices to include. And this is the list we received: Merleau-Ponty, Deleuze, and Nancy – quite the list. Dr. Donovan Irven of Filo Sofi Arts and Analecta Hermenutica returns to present on Deleuze and Nancy, preceded by our good friend Spore, whose presentation on Merleau-Ponty is on point!

VOL. 4: BEING

Our Philosopher in Chief presents on Husserl’s take on the notion of Being, Angela Heredia of Eastern European University and Donovan Irven of Filo Sofi Arts and Analecta Hermeneutica return to tackle Heidegger’s notion of Being. Donovan then turns our attention towards Sartre’s notion of Being. And Angela rounds out the Chop Shop with a presentation on Fanon’s notion of Being.
